********* THE ANNUAL STAMILE FOUNDERS CUP **********
                                    Aug 24, 25, 26

The Calgary Padel Club is organizing the STAMILE FOUNDERS CUP to honor the founders of the sport of Padel in Canada, Bill and Angelo Stamile, the two people who have had and still have the greatest impact in our sports history here.

They are the ones who thanks to their years of work, now make our evenings of enjoyment playing padel possible. We felt it was time to recognize Bill’s and Angelo’s efforts since 1992 when they started padel in Calgary with a home made wooden court inside an old warehouse.

They have had their ups and downs since.  Padel in Canada achieved a glorious third place in the 2009 World Junior Padel Championships, the greatest finish for a Canadian National Padel Team and a very respectable 5th place finish for our women’s team during our very own World Championship in Calgary in 2008.

Bill and Angelo also faced adversity, and eventually in 2013 they lost everything they had built-up for Padel in Canada to a private interest group.

The good news is that two years ago, padel experienced a resurgence in Calgary, as the Calgary Padel Club started operating.  YOU are the owners of the club, the members, and to try to achieve our goals we have been asking for Bill’s and Angelo’s help and advice through our growth.

Thank you Bill and Angelo, the Calgary Padel Club will continue the project you started and keep working to develop the game of Padel locally and in Canada. Hopefully one day some of our young players can return to our past glory days in the world scene.

LET’S ALL ENTER THIS TOURNAMENT, LET’S SHOW BILL AND ANGELO OUR APPRECIATION!

All players will get competitive matches, and you are guaranteed to play more padel than you can handle!!
We’ll have burgers, refreshments, beer, coolers, and a fantastic social evening on Saturday Night!  Paella, asado and sangria night. If you attended last year, you know how good it was.  Keep that evening open, don’t miss it (see photos of last year’s event: http://calgarypadel.ca/gallery/).
